-County Weigh-in has passed.
County Fair Weigh-in is Saturday May 7th, 2011, 8am-3pm.
- Note: If you call Jack Krebs at UW-Extension 262-741-4960 and volunteer to help, the swine committee will select 16 exhibitors who have put their name in as interested members to provide help at the Spring Pig Weigh-in from 7:00 a.m. to conclusion of clean up, usually 3:00 p.m. This will be done in two 4 hour shifts. (8 exhibitors per shift). In return those 16 exhibitors will be guaranteed to sell in the first hour of the meat animal pig sale. The exhibitors will be selected from a hat and those lottery style winners will be notified. To be considered for this you must be willing to work a 4 hr. shift carrying project pigs in a Plastic barrel from the trailers to the tagging, weigh-in processing area.
- State Fair Market Lamb Info:
- Youth interested in participating in the 2011 Wisconsin State Fair Market Lamb and Performance Divisions must identify their market lambs at one of the upcoming official sites. Lambs will be individually identified, receive an official Wisconsin State Fair ear tag and be required to have a DNA sample collected. A $10.00 fee per animal will be collected at the check-in sites. Market lamb identification enables Wisconsin State Fair to maintain a higher level of quality control.
- Sheep Identification Guidelines
- All Junior Exhibitors interested in exhibiting market lambs during the Wisconsin State Fair and in the performance division MUST identify their lambs at one of the identification sites listed below.
- Exhibitors may identify as many lambs as they choose.
- There are no minimum or maximum weight requirements for identification.
- Lambs entering in the performance division will be evaluated on a combination of daily rate of gain, carcass merit and a live evaluation. Lambs participating in this division must be weighed at one of the statewide market lamb identification sites.
- Lambs must be identified in the exhibitor’s name or in an immediate family member’s name.
- Each exhibitor will be permitted to bring no more than 2 market lambs total to the Fair to show in the market and the performance divisions. Lambs may be eligible to show in both of the above divisions if they meet the respective division qualifications.
- The exhibitor and/or parent(s)/legal guardian(s) must be in attendance to sign and verify the DNA sample.
